Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois RESULT: Knocked out

DANIEL DUBOIS knocked out a brave Anthony Joshua in round five of their historic Wembley war. Daniel Dubois has just KNOCKED OUT Anthony Joshua to retain his IBF heavyweight title. AJ missed the chance to become only the sixth-ever three-time heavyweight champion after a dominant showing from Dubois in his first defence of the IBF belt.

‘DDD’ was upgraded to champion following Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to vacate his title to facilitate a rematch with Tyson Fury.

But he proved he was deserving of the title by flooring Joshua FOUR times en route to a thunderous knockout win in the fifth round.

The biggest win of Triple D’s career, who people can no longer call the email champion.

Incredible heart from AJ, who well and truly went out on his shield.

Dubois defended his IBF heavyweight world crown in front of a British-record 96,000.

And he had AJ on the floor in round one following a huge overhand right with only the bell denying him a stoppage inside the opening three minutes.

Joshua was then floored in round three after being battered into the ropes as Dubois landed a couple of blows after bell.

AJ picked himself up from the floor again in round four again but Dubois looked to have slowed down.

Joshua showed signs of turning things around in round five with a right hand that had the champ on the back foot.

Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn has given his thoughts on what’s next for Anthony Joshua following his KO loss to Daniel Dubois.

He said: ‘I’m sure I’ll exercise that rematch clause.”

“He’ll believe he can hurt Dubois, he’ll believe he can beat him.”

When asked if we’ll see another ring walk, AJ said: “Yeah.”

He later added: “Before I came in I said, ‘I’m a fighter for life. We keep rolling the dice.”

Daniel Dubois channels his inner Russell Crowe in ‘Gladiator’, roaring: “Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained?!!!”

Daniel Dubois has just silenced all of his pre-fight detractors with that statement-making KO of Anthony Joshua.

I can’t believe it. Fans at Wembley can’t believe it. And fans around the world can’t believe it.

What an incredible victory.
